It’s an excellent idea to know the fluids in your European automobile. Euro Autoworks is going to list the various fluids below by their color and when they need to be changed so you can make certain you always have fresh fluids in your vehicle. Clean fluids at the proper levels protect your European beauty and help it run efficiently and safely.
Blue
The most common blue fluid is your windshield washing solution, and this fluid never needs to be changed. Rather, it just needs to be topped off when the levels are too low. Your engine coolant may also be blue or blue-green. This fluid needs to be changed every 30,000 miles.
Brown
The most common color of brake fluid is brown, and brake fluid is generally changed every 30,000 miles. Your differential oil may also be brown and your motor oil is brown. The former needs to be changed every 30,000 miles to 60,000 miles; the latter needs to be changed every 3,000 miles.
Clear
There really isn’t any clear fluid in your European automobile. There is condensation in the vehicle’s exhaust and from the air conditioning system, but other than that, the only other fluid that might look clear is the gasoline or diesel fuel. Obviously, these fluids do not need to be changed.
Green
You are going to discover as you keep reading this post that coolant/antifreeze comes in many different colors. Green or neon green is another color in which this fluid comes. Again, it’s a good idea to flush the cooling system and replace the coolant/antifreeze every 30,000 miles.
Orange
Your coolant/antifreeze may also be orange originally or turn orange because there is rust inside of the radiator. You can determine the color of your coolant/antifreeze by checking the color of the fluid in your overflow reservoir when your engine is cold.
Red
Both power steering and transmission fluid are red, and both need to be changed every 30,000 miles. You may also have red brake fluid in the brake system and/or red engine coolant in the cooling system. As you can see, red is a popular automotive fluid color.
Yellow
Finally, when brake fluid is new, it may be so light that it looks yellow. Another automotive fluid that comes in yellow, yellow-green, or neon yellow is the coolant/antifreeze.
